Dear Readers
We took great pleasure in compiling and editing the articles in this month’s magazine, our first issue as a monthly publication for quite a few years. With marketing as our focus we offer articles covering a range of hot topics. Industry expert, Andrew Till, explains how to harness the latest eye-tracking technology to understand Japanese consumers and, we offer detailed case studies of Krispy Kreme and P&G.
Also as a part of the feature, we look at how to market luxury brands in Japan and put our neck on the line by running a daring and explorative piece on advertising giant Dentsu.
In our ‘Context & Culture’ section this month, Kevin Mcgue goes hunting for the perfect suit and our writer, Sarah Noorbakhsh, visited Hachijo-jima to find out about this secret island paradise and discover the life below the waves there. We also take the pulse of Japan’s relationship with the UN and consider the likelihood that it will be rewarded with the long-coveted seat as a permanent member of the Security Council.
This edition, we also extend our gaze beyond our immediate vicinity by putting the spotlight on Japan’s commercial relations with Arabia and our ‘Inside Out’ column on emerging markets focuses on India.
As always we welcome feedback and comments from our readers so please get in touch if there is something you feel we should be covering.
Please send letters to the editor to peter.harris@japaninc.com
